Yes, if in most not all shelters they have D.V. attorneys. However, the year I was able to have mine represent me from shelter Bush cut the funding for shelters & programs & I was told by my attorney, "Sorry I can no longer represent you, your only option is to represent yourself, hire an attorney or petition the courts to provide you with one. I did the latter, guess what got sorry we can't help you. WHAT?? Again how does this protect me, child in either of these cases D.V. or C.S. It doesn't!!
Nice to see that someone one "A JUDGE" noticed the issues & is working to correct it from where she is at. However, still not a state wide or national wide set consideration yet still today.
Found that some states have what they call a MTD (Miniature Tracking Device) or Electronic Home Monitoring (EHM) ankle bracelet for those in violation of child support which grounds them to only work & home until C.S. is paid regularly or caught up. They should have these for all states as a requirement not only for C.S. but for abusers whom are known to continue to stalk, harass, or hurt their victim or anyone else related. During restraining orders.
Issues of restraining orders. How many of you know that the full limited time a restraining order can be renewed? Only for 3 yrs then expires unless you are hurt by the abuser again. Mine has past that 3 yrs and still to this day I have to look over my shoulder why because in other ways now the abuser continues to affect my life and that of my child's. Under protection programs that not all for each state are as protective as they should be. For me to get a restraining order now again he has to physically hurt me. Or proof I have to have. The abuser has had now plenty of time to find the loop holes in the system to work in his favor.
Thank you Lynn for doing this interview with Judge Lynn Toler as well as thank you Judge Lynn for admitting their is a flaw in the system that needs to be greatly improved & changed. The sole purpose of Courage Network to provide those hard to find programs, resources and other important info in one place. Let's spread the word!
